What Has God Done?

“The Lord has done it this very day; let us rejoice today and be glad PSALM 118:24

Some translations word it this way: “ This is the day the Lord has made let us rejoice and be glad”

When reading “ The Lord has done it” My first wondering was - what was “it”? So I went back to read the whole psalm. This particular piece of poetry was sung as a liturgy at celebrations. It reminds the people of how great God is in providing protection and deliverance from the enemy.

What enemies do you face?

I struggled with drivenness, anger, and fear of small spaces, elevators, and snakes- to name a few of mine. These enemies would trip me up and cause a spiral of panic, anxiety, and broken relationships.

How have your enemies caused you to feel less than the child of God you are?

Through the healing presence of Jesus, the Holy Spirit opened my eyes to God’s truth.  Cleansed from those enemies who acted like monkeys on my back, I now know I can walk in freedom. The process is not always easy. Looking into the mirror and admitting that the enemies are closing in like a swarm of bees can be terrifying. When surrounded by negative thoughts, the best way to push back is to look to Jesus for a rescue. Scriptures tell us that Jesus does not leave us - He is always close by.

How does it make you feel to know you have a Saviour close?

So what has God done? Well, I think the real question should be - what has God NOT done? As Creator of the universe, God created us as His image bearers, to worship Him in all we do. In the joys and through the sorrows of life, He is our refuge. He loves us unconditionally. He tells us that we belong. That is why we can rejoice! He has done it! He created today for us to enjoy and worship Him with clean hearts.

God’s truths are so important to hold to.
