About
Hello!
I would love to get to know you more and to become friends.
I am a “jill” of many trades. I enjoy all kinds of crafting and in recent years decided to keep the focus on nature and flowers in particular. I got my creative bug from my mom who also likes all things crafty but now has settled mostly on sewing and quilting :)
I am a follower of Jesus, wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, and a prayer warrior to those who ask. I also wear the hat of a flower farmer, workshop leader, speaker, and listening ear to those who need a little encouragement.
As with many of you, my story is full of ups and downs, ins and outs. I would enjoy you popping into the studio to chat someday.
Til we meet -
Your Local Flower Farmer, Dorothea
Life Vine Creations had its start in the fall of 2018. Up to that point, I enjoyed creating decor for our home and Christmas family celebrations. I had always enjoyed teaching or sharing how to make things. In the fall of 2018, I booked two Christmas shows and 3 Christmas Planter insert workshops to see if I could make “a go” of this new hobby.
I spent time praying for a name for this new budding business. The idea of Jesus’ life vine curling and growing out of my hand came to me. John 15:1-17 describes Jesus as the true vine and His disciples as the branches. From there I developed the first logo and applied for my business license in March 2019. Encouraged to approach Amanda from Artsy Phartsy in Acton, and she agreed to display my created silk arrangements and wreaths. Amanda encouraged me to consider adding fresh flowers to what I was doing. I enjoyed fresh so much that we planted my first cut flower garden that spring.
Because of life circumstances we had our house for sale and bought the new 2-acre property in Rockwood the following spring. With the help of my hubby, a quick plot was created to transplant a few flowers that were cultivated. We spent the spring, summer, and fall of 2020 - moving, painting, and converting the 2 car garage into a studio for Life Vine Creations.
The spring of 2021 was very exciting as there was space to grow seedlings and a new plot of land ready to try our third, first season of planting. By the summer of 2021, the logo got a revamp. Later that fall, for the second time a website was created.
I am looking forward to seeing what God has in store for this business, our family, and the little spot we call home.
